Mesotherapy

Dr Michel Pistor developed mesotherapy in France in 1952 for pain management. This course is taught by Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal, founder of the Society of Mesotherapy UK, and is endorsed by SoMUK. It gives clinicians who treat musculoskeletal pain an additional, minimally invasive option for acute and chronic presentations.

What You Will Learn
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Explain how mesotherapy works for pain and where the evidence supports it.
- Formulate pain cocktails from anti-inflammatory agents, muscle relaxants, local anaesthetics and vitamins, adapted to the type of pain.
- Choose safe depth, volume and treatment frequency for acute and chronic presentations.
- Treat neck and low back pain, shoulder pain, and knee and periarticular joint pain.
- Treat common sports injuries: tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis.
- Compare mesotherapy with corticosteroid injection, NSAIDs, physiotherapy and hyaluronic acid joint injection, and integrate it with physiotherapy.

CPD Certification
Our course material is CPD Certified by The CPD Certification Service (Member No. 7006). CPD Certification confirms that the course material meets recognised CPD standards and guidelines. CPD is self-directed and self-declared: your certificate gives you the evidence to record it. It is a record of training rather than a regulated qualification.
Do I need to have done Aesthetic Mesotherapy first?
No. It is helpful but not required. You do need basic musculoskeletal anatomy knowledge.
Can physiotherapists attend?
Yes. The course suits physiotherapists and other clinicians who treat musculoskeletal pain. Because pain cocktails can contain prescription-only medicines, non-prescribers must work with a prescriber.
How does it compare with steroid injections?
The course compares mesotherapy with corticosteroid injection, NSAIDs, physiotherapy and hyaluronic acid joint injection, so you can choose the right option for each patient.
Do I treat live models?
Yes. Each protocol is practised hands-on on live models with individual feedback.
Does this course lead to SoMUK membership?
Completing accredited mesotherapy training is a requirement for SoMUK membership, which then gives you 20% off our other courses. Membership is verified when you book.
