The Diploma covers six mandatory units, from the principles of aesthetic practice and patient assessment to anatomy, botulinum toxin, dermal fillers and clinical literature review. Theory is studied online on our learning platform; practical training and assessments take place in small groups at our Harley Street clinic, led by Dr Philippe Hamida-Pisal, with more than 15 years of teaching experience.

Entry is for registered healthcare professionals. We assess every application individually before confirming your place.

Professional registration
Active registration, with no conditions on practice, with the GMC, GDC, NMC or GPhC/PSNI, or an equivalent regulator. Other statutory-regulated professionals — such as physiotherapists, paramedics, ODPs, dental therapists and hygienists — on enquiry

Level 6 qualification
A degree-level qualification in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy or equivalent

Prescribing
You do not need to be an independent prescriber, but you must have prescribing status or work under the clinical supervision of a named prescriber

Valid insurance covering injectable aesthetic practice, or willingness to obtain it before treating patients independently

Basic life support and anaphylaxis
An Ofqual-regulated Level 3 qualification in basic life support and anaphylaxis, held before registration on the Diploma. Our VTCT Skills Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis (610/5756/3) meets this requirement

What You Will Learn

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  1. Practise within the UK regulatory, ethical and legal framework, including consent law, clinical governance and safe product sourcing.
  2. Carry out thorough patient assessments: consultation, facial analysis, contraindication screening and treatment planning.
  3. Apply detailed facial anatomy and physiology, including vascular and neural structures and the ageing face.
  4. Treat with botulinum toxin safely: pharmacology, reconstitution, injection mapping and complication management.
  5. Treat with dermal fillers safely: product selection, techniques, danger zones and complication management.
  6. Critically appraise clinical literature to support evidence-based practice.

All six units are mandatory. Together they make up 60 credits and 175 guided learning hours.

How the Diploma is assessed

01
Written assignments
Two externally set VTCT Skills assignments: short answer responses for UMA1 and UMA2, and treatment scenarios for UMA4 and UMA5, completed in your own time, with written feedback and one resubmission if needed.

Theory examination
An online multiple-choice examination for anatomy and physiology, set and marked by VTCT Skills.

Literature review
A 1,500–2,000 word critical appraisal of aesthetic clinical literature (UMA6).

Supervised clinical cases
A minimum of 10 observed and 10 supervised procedures for botulinum toxin, and the same for dermal fillers, on real patients and documented in your portfolio before the final assessment.

Final clinical assessments
A live botulinum toxin procedure and a live dermal filler procedure, each observed by the centre’s qualified assessor at 22 Harley Street.

Quality assurance
Your evidence is internally quality assured and sampled by VTCT Skills before certification. All units are graded Pass or Fail.

Regulated qualification
The VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Treatments is regulated by Ofqual under qualification number 603/5968/7 (MA7D1). It sits at RQF Level 7, equivalent to postgraduate level, with 60 credits, 175 guided learning hours and a total qualification time of 600 hours. PHP Training Academy is an approved VTCT Skills centre (4942/000).
Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Experienced injectors may be eligible for an accelerated assessment route. You need at least three years of documented experience in clinical aesthetic injectables, evidenced by at least 30 botulinum toxin and 30 dermal filler treatments, plus a peer reference from a regulated practitioner of equivalent or higher qualification level, and you must meet all the standard entry requirements. Any recognition of prior learning is subject to approval by VTCT Skills. Contact us to discuss your eligibility.
Live models
We provide the live models for your clinical assessments. All models are over 21, present genuine aesthetic concerns relevant to the assessment and give full written informed consent. You may also propose your own models, subject to our Learner Induction Policy.
Do I need to be a registered healthcare professional?
Yes. You need active registration with a statutory regulator and a Level 6 qualification. We assess every application individually.
Do I need to be a prescriber?
No. You need prescribing status or to work under the clinical supervision of a named prescriber.
How long does it take?
Most delegates complete the Diploma in 9 to 14 months alongside their work, with up to 24 months allowed.
Is it online or in person?
Both. Theory is studied online; practical training and clinical assessments take place at 22 Harley Street.
Will I treat real patients?
Yes, under one-to-one supervision. We provide the live models for your clinical assessments.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. You can pay in four interest-free payments linked to your progress, or spread the cost with finance, subject to status.
What is the difference with Level 7 Complete?
Level 7 Complete includes the same Diploma plus six CPD-certified skin and regenerative courses, for £10,995 + VAT.
