Two Ways to Take This Training
We are now an approved centre for the VTCT Skills Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis — a qualification regulated by Ofqual and awarded independently of us. That sits alongside our CPD clinical course rather than replacing it. The two do different jobs, and many practitioners take both.
CPD clinical course
The deeper course, and the one built for your practice. Covers vascular occlusion, hyaluronidase, local anaesthetic systemic toxicity and vasovagal collapse as well as BLS and anaphylaxis. Certificate issued by PHP Training Academy, CPD Certified. For registered healthcare professionals only. 5.5 hours of structured learning.
Level 3 regulated award
Adult basic life support, AED and the management of anaphylaxis. Awarded by VTCT Skills, regulated by Ofqual, qualification number 610/5756/3 — a certificate that sits on the national register rather than one we issue ourselves. Open to your whole clinic team, not only registered professionals. It also meets the basic life support and anaphylaxis requirement for entry to our Level 7 Diploma.

How the CPD Course Works

Pre-study
A learning pack covering the SAFE protocol, basic life support, anaphylaxis, vascular occlusion, vasovagal syncope, local anaesthetic systemic toxicity, choking, the recovery position and documentation. Approximately 1 hour.
02
Assessment
A 20-question multiple choice paper. Pass mark 80%. Submitted at least 48 hours before your practical day — a pass is a condition of attending. Approximately 30 minutes.
03
Practical day
Four hours of supervised practice: CPR on a Laerdal manikin, the full AED sequence, adrenaline auto-injector trainers, choking, the recovery position, then a full emergency scenario and competency sign-off.
How the Level 3 Award Works

Registration
You complete a short learner registration form before the day and are registered with VTCT Skills. Bring photographic identification on the morning — we cannot register you without it. You are issued your own record of assessment book.

Taught and assessed
Assessment happens as you work, not in an exam room. Each criterion is signed off the moment you demonstrate it, and your record of assessment book is completed with your assessor during the day.

Certification
Your evidence is internally quality assured by a second qualified assessor, then the claim goes to VTCT Skills, who sample it before certification. Your certificate is posted to you once issued.
How you are assessed on the Level 3 Award
There is no written exam. Eight of the ten assessment criteria are judged by practical observation while you work, and the remaining two by a short portfolio of questions that can be taken as a recorded professional discussion rather than in writing. Every learner performs a minimum of two minutes of CPR at floor level, observed individually — this cannot be waived. Auto-injector technique is taught and assessed with a training device; no live adrenaline auto-injector is ever used in training. If you are not successful on the day you are given feedback and offered reassessment, and nothing is recorded as a failure.

Employers have a legal duty to provide first aid
Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, every UK employer must provide adequate and appropriate first-aid provision for their staff, based on a first-aid needs assessment. In a clinical or aesthetic setting — where injectable treatments carry real risks — that duty is more demanding than in an ordinary workplace, and having clinically-trained staff who can manage a medical emergency is central to meeting it. This course equips your team to respond to the emergencies that actually occur in aesthetic practice.
Neither route is a First Aid at Work qualification
Please read this before booking. Our CPD course is clinical training for healthcare and aesthetic practitioners, built around the emergencies that occur in aesthetic practice; it is not a regulated qualification. The Level 3 Award is a regulated qualification, but it covers adult basic life support, AED and anaphylaxis rather than workplace first aid. Neither is a First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification. If your workplace requires FAW or EFAW to meet its statutory first aid provision, you will need a separate course for that. We would rather tell you now than after you have booked.
Keep your BLS current
Resuscitation skills decay. We encourage delegates to maintain annual manikin-based BLS practice at their own NHS Trust, workplace, or a Resuscitation Council UK accredited training centre, alongside this course rather than instead of it.
Under the GMC, GDC, NMC and HCPC, CPD is self-directed and self-declared: you choose learning relevant to your scope of practice, and you record it. Your certificate gives you the evidence to do that. For the CPD course it is a record of training and assessment rather than a regulated qualification, and it does not by itself establish your ongoing clinical competence. For the Level 3 Award, the qualification is awarded by VTCT Skills against a nationally set standard.
CPD Certification
Our CPD course is CPD Certified by The CPD Certification Service (Member No. 7006). CPD Certification confirms that the course material meets recognised CPD standards and guidelines. It does not confirm the competence of any learner completing the course; competence is assessed by PHP Training Academy against its own assessment criteria.
Regulated qualification
The Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis is awarded by VTCT Skills, an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, under qualification number 610/5756/3. PHP Training Academy is an approved VTCT Skills centre (4942/000) and delivers and assesses the qualification on their behalf; the standard is set and externally verified by VTCT Skills rather than by us. The award carries a Total Qualification Time of 4 hours, of which 3 are guided learning hours.
Who Each Route Is For
The CPD clinical course is for registered healthcare professionals — doctors, nurses, dentists and pharmacists registered with the GMC, GDC, NMC or GPhC, or an equivalent regulatory body if registered outside the UK — who hold professional indemnity insurance covering their relevant practice. The Level 3 Award is open more widely, including to clinic managers, receptionists, therapists and support staff who are not registered professionals. We check eligibility before confirming any place. If you are unsure which route is right for you, please ask us before booking.
In-House Training for Clinics
We bring the training to you. One day at your premises, your whole team together, on your own equipment layout — with your emergency kit audited as part of the day. Either route can be delivered in-house, and the day is priced per day rather than per person.

The manikin, the AED trainer, the adrenaline auto-injector trainers, all learner materials and, for the regulated route, the VTCT Skills registration and record of assessment books.
What you provide
A room that seats six with clear floor space for CPR practice. We will confirm the room is suitable before the date is booked.
Practicalities
Up to six practitioners per day, scheduled around your clinic list including weekends. London and the South East as standard; elsewhere by arrangement.
A manikin, an AED and adrenaline trainers. Not a slideshow.
